I REALLY liked this book. While I enjoyed the 'sample' of it on my Kindle, I sort of hesitated about paying for it. I thought it was a little pricey mainly because I had been burned a couple of weeks ago on another book I had sampled then bought a higher-than-normal price and ended up hating it. I am so glad I took the chance. It paid off! This is the type of thriller I enjoy. Character development and story line that plays out slowly (but not too slowly!) and ends with a satisfying twist. While I did figure out part of it, there were other surprises that I liked. I also have a feeling (or a hope) that the main characters will be back in future novels. If you read this Ms. Hayes, please let it be so!

This will be a short review because almost anything I write would be a spoiler to this psychological thriller. I am usually pretty proficient at flushing out villains, but Ms. Hayes threw me off my game. She cleverly began chapters in the first person, thus disguising the identity of the character for a few pages. If you like this genre, you will like the twists and turns in this story, but be sure to read the epilogue.
I was interested in the characters and the story line, but found it confusing while I was reading. And then, as I got to the end, I realized the reason for the confusion and was quite surprised. I plan to reread the book, now that I know more. It was interesting, but at times seemed repetitive. Subject matter is disturbing.
Very engaging storyline, although a little disturbing at times. Hard to put down. The reader definitely gets involved with Claudia and Zoe. Great ending, excellent twist. Although there were tiny hints along the way, I can't say it was predictable. Great read!
When I finished this book, I literally tossed it across the room and stared at it.

The ending is quite a surprise following the events of the book. I was left going back over the story in my mind wondering how many clues I might have missed about the major plot twist at the end.

The twist itself was major and almost "mind-blowing" if I'm gonna be cliché. That being said, there seemed to be quite a bit of buildup to the climax of the story, only to be followed by a somewhat hasty ending. I felt that the story sort of rushed through explaining away all of the loose ends.

All in all, though, a great read.
I like this author a lot. This is the second book of hers that I have read. She has a good sense for twisting the plot, and I Iike that. Sometimes a story does not need a happy ending. Her characters are complicated and she has the natural tendency to fix their problems right at the end. Life is not like that, but I understand the desire to wrap up all the characters. I will read as many books as she writes.
It's a good read if you don't mind that the author breaks a lot of the "rules" of mystery- suspense books. You will probably be really surprised at the ending. I read a lot of mystery and suspense books and can usually guess the endings pretty well, but this one took me by surprise. I won't spoil the book like so many other reviewers probably have done ( don't you hate that!) by telling you the ending. Like the editorial review says- it's a book about a woman who wants her own baby really bad. It's well written, start reading it when you have the time to read it in one or two sittings, because you'll want to finish it to see what happens.
I really enjoyed this book and all the subplots, although the author had me going back and forth in the book when shifting from first to third person narrative, often not sure who was "speaking". The ending was a real surprise although I was wondering about a few events towards the end. However, (possible spoiler), am I the only who who seems to be puzzled by the lack of an explanation of how the investigative services knew that James and Claudia would be putting an ad in the paper wanting to hire a nanny and thereby giving Zoe an "in" to the household?
