I read this book as it was picked for our summer reading club at church. I hadn't read anything by Tracie Peterson, so really didn't know if I was going to like the book or not. It was a great read and I loved the way it was written. I'm always trying to guess how the story is going to end and found this one kept my attention from the beginning to the end. After reading this book I'm planning to order more of her books as I like to read books that are written in a series.Tags : A Treasure Concealed (Sapphire Brides) [Tracie Peterson] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Bestselling Author Tracie Peterson Launches Exciting New Series Set in 1890s Montana

Emily Carver wants a home where she can put down roots instead of following her gold-hungry father from one mining camp to another. A Treasure Concealed Sapphire Brides Tracie Peterson 9780764213243 Books Reviews
Tracie Peterson writes heartfelt stories that draw you into the book with rich descriptions of both characters and settings. The story centers around Emily Carver who has been shuttled too many times from place to place following her father who seeks gold and wealth. She's ready to be out on her own and find a person to love and start a family with. A geologist, Caeden Thibault comes into the camp and peeks Emily's interest, the only problem is he's not looking for anyone to marry. Is Emily brave enough to soften his heart and is she willing to open hers in the process? You'll have to read this book to see.
Tracie Peterson has spun a story that keeps you captivated. It's about a young gal in a small Wyoming mining town who gives of herself daily...caring for & loving her dying mom, helping her determined dad who always believes he is going to "hit it big" mining for gold, keeps the cabin they live in clean, food prepared, animals cared for etc.., all the while dreaming someday of having a real home of her own without having to move all the time. This a story of devotion, determination, hardships and people who help one another, even when they have nothing, during adversity. It is simply a beautiful story. I encourage you to read this book. I believe you will enjoy it.
Emily longed for a place to call home. A place to hang curtains and plant flowers. A place to stay. A place to put down roots. She despairs of ever realizing this dream as her father chases the elusive gold strike that he's sure is at the next claim. When circumstances seem to tear even the remnants of that dream away, Emily despairs of ever finding a place to call home.
Caedon loved the travel and variety of his work as a geologist for the government. Besides, he knew that the the whole settle down with a family thing wasn't for him. Not with the father he'd been raised by!!
Neither of them could see a way to open themselves up to any kind of relationship. The outside forces were daunting -- but the inner turmoil would threaten the strongest of the strong.
I loved this book. Actually, how could you not love something by Tracy Peterson? Caedon and Emily's struggles with forgiveness and trust are skillfully portrayed. The lessons of faith are woven into the story seamlessly, moving the story along logically.
Emily Carver wants a home where she can put down roots instead of following her gold-hungry father from one mining camp to another. She also longs for tenderness and love, both of which are missing in her life. Yet when she realizes she's losing her heart to the intriguing new man in camp, she fiercely fights her feelings, afraid that love will only result in disappointment and heartache.
Caeden Thibault, a young geologist, comes to Montana to catalog minerals indigenous to the state. He's a serious and guarded young man trying to escape the pain of his past. He has avoided all romantic entanglements, fearing he might become like his abusive father. But something about Emily Carver has caught his attention, something he never expected. . . .
Will these two broken souls allow God to bring healing and hope to their hurting hearts?
If you have any interest in history or gold mines, this book is definitely for you. There is just enough suspense to keep you turning pages and just enough romance to keep the romantic at heart satisfied. This book is the first in a series of books called the Sapphire Brides. Tracie sets the story for A Treasure Concealed in beautiful Montana during the aftermath of the gold rush days.
Tracie Peterson did a wonderful job in describing gold mining life in Montana. I could picture the town, the people, the Carver’s home, and the difficulties these people faced. I really enjoyed this book. I think you will like it if you enjoy historical fiction.
**I received a copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.**
Emily Carver’s father has gold fever, and she’s lived in mining camps all her life. She longs for a permanent home and a family of her own. When Caeden Thibault, a wealthy geologist, pitches his tent behind her cabin, she tries not to be drawn to him, because he’ll soon be moving on.
Caeden had a father who loved himself and alcohol more than he did his family, so Caeden plans never to get romantically involved with anyone., but he finds his heart going out to Emily despite all his best efforts to prevent it. However, the Arnolds, his father’s old friends, might just change everything if the man bent on revenge against the Carvers doesn’t first.
The only mistake I found was “Kirk” used when it should have been “Taber” once. I really enjoyed parts of this story, but it should have been shortened, because other parts dragged at a slow pace. I expected more to come of the mock engagement and didn’t know if I was glad or disappointed that didn’t happen. Although enjoyable, this novel wasn’t as good as others I’ve read by Tracie Peterson. It seemed more methodical and lacked tension or spark. I gave it 4.5 stars, which rounded up to a five.
Romance is the name of the game in this book. This book delivers what we all want more romance and excitement in our life.
