Most enjoyable, this book surprised me being deeper than I thought the genre usually provides. Siri Mitchel has some wonderful books but somehow I was still surprised by this one. The experience of having been abandoned is a big deal and I think it is nicely dealt with here. The hero is totally my kind of hero, and I assure you, yours too, constant, sweet and fun. The girl's angst is totally understandable, and surprisingly and the internet plays the guardian angel. Wonderful escape into the real world of hope.

The Cubicle Next Door Siri L Mitchell 9780736917582 Books Reviews

The Cubicle Next Door is an enjoyable story of a woman who has a hard time speaking up for herself. She is forced to give up half of her office at work to a new hire. The cubicles are installed and Mr. Tall and Handsome moves in. She takes her frustration out on her weblog, but then her anonymous blogging receives media attention. Everyone is reading her blog, including the man she is falling in love with from the cubicle next door.

Siri Mitchell tells a wonderful story! Her characters are multi-dimensional and her wit comes through in both the dialogue and her prose. Sadly, my copy of this book contained 10 blank pages at the very end. But I still enjoyed the story.
This is one of my favorite books EVER!!!! Great modern love story! VERY funny and very sweet- lots of fun to read. I finally had to buy myself a "keep" copy b/c I like reading it so much.
Also- this is the book that led me to read other Siri Mitchell books and she's a wonderful author. I think I've read all of her books now and haven't found a bad one yet. This one is my favorite, though. ENJOY!!!!!
If you've ever 1) written a blog 2) read a blog 3) had a crush on a co-worker 4)had self-doubt about your ability to woo said co-worker, then this book is for you.

Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down.

The story Self-described "geek" Jackie writes a blog about her life at work and along comes Joe, who has to share Jackie's work-space. Jackie grudgingly lets Joe invade her work space and he uses that as an opportunity to invade her personal space, too. Jackie uses her blog to vent about sharing her space with Joe and as the days turn into months, it's obvious that Jackie is in love with Joe, but doesn't know how to tell him. To make things more awkward, Joe reads her blog but doesn't know he's reading her blog. (Or does he?!? You'll have to read the book to find out!) Joe is persistent in his pursuit of Jackie, but Jackie has personal demons that prevent her from fully committing. The reader gets to share Jackie's "pain" and root for Joe.

The characters, Jackie and Joe, were realistic and down-to-earth and their romance was charming and heart-warming.

I found myself totally sympathizing with Jackie and her blog entries were real and her feelings were honest. I felt like I was strapped in beside her during her roller-coaster ride through all of the emotions a person feels when they are falling in love and fighting every step.

Joe is the perfect romantic hero. He was strong, sensitive, funny, smart and he had me hooked from the minute he didn't give Jackie a chance to back down. Everyone needs someone to push them to be "more" and I'm glad Jackie had Joe.

I highly recommend this book and wish I could find more like it.
As a critical reader of anything titled "Christian Romance" I began reading this book expecting to be disappointed. I was surprised to find a well-written and smart novel about two characters learning about life from someone else's perspective and growing together. I enjoyed the perspective of a civilian working for the military as well as the break from the typical in having a casually feminine main character who is a female in IT. A light read, but one for the quirky underdog in all of us.
Wow, I loved this one! In the beginning I wasn't gripped, but a little later into it I didn't want to put it down. You get caught up in the characters, the story, and you want to see what will happen next. There are stories I read and chuckle to myself at times over the humor in them but it isn't often I have one that has me laughing out loud, and not just once but several times. I just couldn't hold the laughter in and it felt good... My husband kept looking at me like "what is so funny?"!

However, it wasn't just humor there were times this story had me tearing up too. I couldn't wait to see how it would all work out and at the same time didn't want the story to end.
Jackie is an IT geek, working at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Lack of office space means she has to share her office with a new instructor, Joe, and as her office becomes a cubicle, she starts writing about her experiences in her blog, the Cubicle Next Door. Despite her self-proclaimed desire to never fall in love or get married, she starts developing a relationship with the ever-patient Joe.

Joe is a wonderful hero - handsome, intelligent, likeable, but not perfect. Jackie is a bit of a basket-case with abandonment issues, and despite being a Christian, she has never really understood some things. She is also an environmentalist, and I have to say that the endless recycling tips did get a bit tedious. It almost felt like the author was pushing a cause for the sake of it.

The Cubicle Next Door will appeal to those who like good Christian chick-lit romance, such as fans of Tamara Leigh and Susan May Warren. Personally, I enjoyed this much more than I liked Mitchell's later award-winning She Walks In Beauty. Why do authors feel the need to write Serious Books Dealing with Heavy Issues, when this can be covered equally well in a funny, easy-reading book like Cubicle?
I reread beloved books because it’s hard to find new voices that aren’t offensive or disturbing to my vivid imagination. I read somewhere online this was a funny, Christian book. It did not disappoint; laughed out loud several times. I love visiting Colorado Springs and the details she gave about skiing made me have the courage to try some day. Also, if you have a special grandparent born before 1930, you’ll love the oldies in this book.

My thanks to the author.
